Week3Lecture1: We discussed double Riemann sums and using integration to approximate the volume under a surface. (The full discussion is in the introductory 3 pages of Chapter 15 in Stewart, with explanatory diagrams of how the volume is more closely approximated in the limiting case as the partitions become finer.) We then introduced the theory of how to deal with integration over non-rectangular regions - specifically over Type 1 functions.
