Some Quotes
- The lecturers and tutors in Maths department are the best part (for me) of going to NUI Galway. In the last 3 semesters there has never once been a time when I felt unable to get help.
- As someone who dreaded math's class [in school],.... since coming
to NUI Galway, I have been completely swayed and can now say whole
heartedly that I absolutely love studying maths in NUI Galway, partly
due to the approachability of Lecturers and fantastic support
in SUMS. Hand on
heart, I no longer dread maths. For me, the stigma of maths being a
'boy' or 'geeky' subject is well and truly gone. Math's is now
fashionable and different.
This next one is a long one!

Picking Maths as one of my subjects was one of the best decisions I
made. I thought that because I hadn't done it in so long that I
wouldn't be able for it, but as it turned out I was. Dont get me wrong
it isn't an easy subject, but then again all of the subject have some
degree of challenge in them otherwise there would be no point. What
makes maths a wonderful subject to study is the support you get from
the Maths Department. All of my Maths Lecturers since the beginning
have been excellent, not just with teaching Maths, but with being able
to approach them with problems you might be having, they are only too
happy to help you.
- What can I say about the wonderful Tutors, they are the best, and
will go out of there way to help you. Finally we have the S.U.M.S
center. This was set up last year. It is a drop in centre for anybody
that is doing Maths as part of their degree. They will help you if you
are having problems with your course work, they will explain anything
you need, and generally help you with anything. If you do decide to
take Maths I recommend you use this service. Nui Galway has an
excellent Maths Department with brilliant people working in it. They
don't just teach you Maths they care about their students. [I would
highly recommend NUI Galway as a college, and please consider taking
Maths as a subject. Believe me you could be pleasantly surprised.]
