Problem Solving
I am very interested in encouraging students to develop their mathematical problem solving skills - especially through problem solving contests such as the Irish Mathematical Olympiad. I wrote a short chapter on problems involving elementary function equations for the Irish Mathematical Olympiad Manual.
Mathematical Enrichment Course
Each year from January through April we invite some enthusiastic second level students to spend their Saturday mornings at NUIG thinking about mathematics. If you are interested, check out the webpage for the course.
PRISM
Rachel Quinlan, Niall Madden, Jerome Sheahan and I co-founded PRoblem Solving for Irish Second level Mathematicians (aka PRISM) in 2006. It has run each year since then in conjunction with Maths week. Here is the latest contest website.
