Penrose tiles can be used to cover a 2-dimensional surface in a non-periodic way. However there are certain rules to be obeyed while carrying out the tiling in order not to leave any gaps or "holes". The project will investigate two types of well-known tilings, using either (1) "dart" and "kite" shapes, or (2) 2 rhombus shapes of different dimensions. This project will be carried out under linux and so requires some knowledge of/interest in linux/unix.
