The Bioinformatics & Biostatistics Research Cluster offers PhD and MSc degrees by research. All PhD degrees at NUI Galway are Structured PhDs that include some course work and teaching experience, particularly in the early years of the degree. Uniquely, the Research Cluster recognizes the importance of collaboration and consultation as components 0f the professional training of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics PhD students and will recognize these activities towards satisfying the coursework requirements of the Structured PhD.
If you are potentially interested in applying to undertake a PhD in the Research Cluster you should:

- Make contact by e-mail with the prospective supervisor you have identified
- Have a discussion with the prospective supervisor about available projects and potential sources of funding (usually by e-mail, phone or Skype or in person for students who are based locally)
