Education took place at NUI Galway on December
15th and 16th, 2006. Sixty participants for thirteen Irish

The symposium aims are:
- To encourage discussion, debate and
sharing of ideas among mathematics educators on the teaching and
learning of mathematics at the third level.
- To expose mathematics educators to the emerging body of published research on the teaching and
learning of mathematics at the third level.
- To support research in mathematics
education at the third level and thus raise the profile of Ireland in this
field internationally.

ISUME3 will take place on the campus of NUI Galway (See
[Google Maps] or
[MapQuest])
All talks will be held in the McMunn lecture theatre on the Arts and
Science Concourse, and the wine reception will be in the
main Quadrangle. See Campus Map.
ISUME3 will begin with registration from 1pm to 2pm on Friday, 15
December, and will be formally opened at 2pm by Dr Iognáid Ó Muircheartaigh President
of NUI Galway. ISUME3 will conclude by 3.30pm on Saturday
afternoon.

If you plan to attend, but have not yet
registered, please do so as soon as
possible. Also indicate if you'll be attending the conference dinner.
The conference fee is €25 (reduced to €10
for students), payable by cheque or cash on arrival.
The conference dinner will be held at the
Westwood Hotel and will
cost €35, also to be paid on arrival.
ISUME3 will be help on the campus of NUI Galway.
- Travel
There are regular rail
connections from Dublin to Galway, and
bus
connections from all Irish cities and towns.
There are direct flights to Galway Airport from Belfast,
Dublin, Luton, Manchester, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Lorient, Cardiff,
Leeds, Cork and Prague. The Airport is 7kms from the NUI Galway
campus. Taxis typically cost €25.
Directions to NUI Galway by car. There is a limited number of pay-and-display
parking places for visitors.
